5 HABITS THAT MIGHT JUST CHANGE YOUR LIFE
May 03, 2022Make time for yourself
Life is busy, I get it. But so often we fill our schedules right to the brim and put our own needs behind. Before you know it, weeks have gone and you never made time to read your favourite book, have a bath, do a Yoga class, or whatever else it is that fills your cup. Make taking time for yourself a priority. I repeat: Make taking time for yourself a priority!
When I did my Yoga Teacher Training in India our philosophy teacher said that you can't share your mango if you don't have a mango. So simple, I love it.
We cannot take care of everyone else and everything else if we don't first take care of ourselves. If we don't make time to fill up our own cup, how can we be the best versions of ourselves for others? Go and book that massage. Go do that Yoga class. Read that book. Do at least one thing every day that makes you feel good and make yourself the priority. You deserve it.
Stay hydrated
Don't you roll your eyes on me! We all know that we have to drink water, but fact is, most people still don't. Not drinking enough water can cause headaches, might lead to overeating, and often leaves us feeling lethargic and tired. I used to struggle to drink enough myself until we invested in a water ioniser. If you're struggling to drink enough, look into finding a solution that will help you to drink more. Maybe that means buying a new water bottle and carrying it with you everywhere you go, or investing in a water ioniser like I did, or setting yourself a reminder on your phone to drink regularly (I'm sure there's an app for it 😅 ).
Challenge yourself
This can be done in countless of ways. Committing to one of our free Yoga challenges is just one way to get out of your comfort zone. If we end up resting in the monotony of our everyday lives we become complacent. Challenge yourself intellectually, physically, and mentally to achieve more, grow more, and become your best version. A quote from William S. Burroughs says "When you stop growing you start dying" and I think it's a powerful reminder that major leaps forward happen mostly when we're completely outside our comfort zone.
Practice gratitude
Expressing gratitude is a powerful process for shifting your energy and bringing more of what you want into your life. Each of us has so much to be thankful for. Why not make it a habit to practice gratitude daily? It costs us nothing, yet yields countless benefits. Having an attitude of gratitude is good for your physical, emotional, and mental health.
Educate yourself
These days education doesn't have to equal a university degree. Reading books or listening to educational podcasts is a great way to gain knowledge. Reading can also improve focus and have calming effects similar to meditation - it's a win-win really! There's literally a book or podcast about anything you could think of, any question you might have, or topic you want to learn more about. On top of that, you might even get some actionable advice on how to overcome all kinds of challenging situations through real-life examples. Check out my blog post 6 BOOKS EVERYONE SHOULD READ for some inspo (there's also a book about gratitude 😏).
Lots of love, as always.
